Blue Sky Studios was closed by Disney on April 7, 2021 due to Covid-19’s impact. Chris Wedge, co-founder of Blue Sky Studios, wrote on Instagram Bluesky Studios: “In the 34-years since its foundation, the studio team and our friend Scrat had one goal. To get one thing. We have been trying to achieve the company’s goals, just like Scrat tries eating the acorn. There are some things that cannot be kept on forever. We are happy to show movies to the public.”
Blue Sky Studios produced Ice Age, a series that consists of five films from 2006 to 2016 and has grossed $3.2 billion worldwide. There are also many short films and video games. Ray Romano and John Leguizamo are the main characters. Denis Leary and Chris Wedge also voice them. The series centers on animals trying to survive during the Paleolithic Ice Age. Ice Age: Scrat Tales will premiere on March 14, on Disney+. It features six animated episodes that tell the story of Baby Scrat’s journey to become a father. In this episode, father and son are competing for acorns. .
Blue Sky Studios was an animation studio that was established in 1987. It has released films Ice Age (2002-2016), Rio (2011)-2014), The Peanuts Movie (2015) and Ferdinand (2017 )…) which were all part of 20th Century Fox’s acquisition by Disney. The company has only a few small projects with Disney after the April announcement. Netflix will produce Nimona, another Blue Sky Studios movie.
