“Every Who in Who-villa enjoyed Christmas a lot…But The Grinch, who lived just north Of Who-villi, didn’t!”
Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Theodor Seuss Geisel is known as Dr. Seuss published his first children’s book, “And to Think That It I Saw It on Mulberry Street”, in 1937.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Twenty years later, it was finally released. The Grinch was its title character. It first appeared in a poem in 2005.
The Grinch is a hermit who lives alone. His heart is “two sizes too small”, he is full of hate and anger, at least in the beginning.
He can have a change of heart when his bully-like behavior does not work and he turns to helping others.
The Grinch could be a recreation from Ebenezer Scrooge, Charles Dickinson’s 1843 short novel A Christmas Carol. This story shows how the unhappy Scrooge goes through a similar transformation.
In 1966, the Grinch was first seen in film. He made his return in 1982’s The Grinch Grinch’s the Cat in the Hat. He was also seen in The Bibulous World of Dr. Seuss 1996 and The Grinch 2000 live-action comedy.
His image can also be found on books, clothing, and Christmas decorations.

How to Draw The Grinch Step-By-Step
1st Step:
Draw an oval. This will allow you to draw the Grinch’s face.
2nd Step:
You can use a series of curves to outline Grinch’s face. Note the bulges in his cheeks, chin and cheeks. For the Grinch’s green fur, allow short lines to intersect in sharp points.
3rd Step:
Two curved lines should be drawn downwards from the forehead to form the neck and upper body.
4th Step:
To create a cloud-like, narrow, fluffy shape at the top of Grinch’s head, connect short, curved lines. This will create the base of his hat. The collar of the garment will be formed by drawing a similar shape below the head.
5th Step:
As necessary, erase guide lines.
6th Step:
Draw the hat using curved lines. The hat has a shape similar to a triangle with the tip bent over. The tip of the cap should be enclosed with several short, curving lines.
7th Step:
To form the Grinch’s arm, draw two parallel lines in “L” shapes. Draw a short line detailing the elbow and erasing guide lines as needed. Draw a long, straight line parallel to your body for the other arm.
8th Step:
To indicate eyebrows, draw two curves. A second curve below one will form the cheek. For the eye, draw a circle under each eyebrow. You can also use a small, irregularly shaped shape for the nose.
9th Step:
Finish the details of your face. The mouth should be drawn using two intersecting, curved lines with a wavy curve at each end. The pupils of your eyes can be drawn using small circles with an even smaller circle inside each. To add texture to the eye, the lips, and the cheeks, use short, curved lines.
10th Step:
Color the Grinch. He is often depicted wearing a red and a white suit. However, he was actually a pencil drawing in the original printing.
