How to Draw The Deer

This drawing lesson will teach you how to draw a deer, one of the most majestic and iconic inhabitants of the forest.

We have already said that all mammals can be drawn the same way. This means that this lesson will cover drawing a deer in general terms, just like our lessons on drawing a bull and a dog.

As you can see, every animal has its own unique features that must be captured in the drawing.

How to draw a deer

Step 1

Let’s draw a deer head by drawing its ribcage in a circle and the head in a circle. The pelvis is drawn in an oval.

Step 2

Connect the head to your ribcage, and then connect your pelvis to it with simple lines. Sketch the front and hind legs using the same lines.

Step 3

Next, draw the muzzle of the deer using the U-shaped line. Next, draw the ears at the top, just like Easydrawingart.com.

Step 4

Let’s now get into the details. Begin by drawing the eyes just below the ears. Next, draw the nose and muzzle.

Step 5

Draw a neck that extends into the chest using a long, curving line. Draw the belly using a similar line, connecting the pelvis and ribcage at the bottom.

Step 6

Let’s now focus on the most distinctive and distinguishing part of a deer, its antlers. Start by drawing the outer edges using a pair of long, slightly curved lines.

Step 7

Let’s now move to the inside of the horns. This shows all branches as illustrated in the Easydrawingart.com drawing. The horns should have a symmetrical pattern.

Step 8

Let’s now draw the outline of the legs. Don’t forget to show the thickenings around the joints when drawing the legs.

Step 9

Draw the hooves of your deer using a few lines. Deer are not like horses and has cloven-hoofed animals. Make sure to draw this feature.

Step 10

Let’s now move on to the hind legs. Draw them in smooth, long lines. The hind legs are very different from the front.

Step 11

Next, draw the hooves from the lower limbs of your hind legs. They are composed of a few simple lines.

Step 12

Let’s give the deer an even more solid and complete look. You can do this by carefully erasing any unnecessary guidelines and tracing the drawing to make it more expressive.

Step 13

To color the deer drawing, we used shades of brown. The eyes were blackened with white highlights. Shadows can be used to make the deer appear more vibrant.

What can you do to make deer drawing more exciting?

You can start by drawing trees and mountains. Then, draw fields to help the deer get into its natural habitat. You can also draw other animals. This will make your drawings more interesting and lively. You can also use our drawing tutorials to draw all of these details.
