How to Draw Scooby Doo

This guide will teach you how to draw Scooby-Doo. He is truly one of the most beloved cartoon dogs.

Step 1

First, draw the outline of our character using a few circles. There is a large circle in the middle and two smaller circles above and below. This looks a lot like the first steps in our How to Draw a Snowman post.

Step 2

Scooby-Doo has a very funny look. He smiles sweetly and looks up at the left. In this step, let’s draw the eyes and upper portion of the character’s face.

Step 3

Complete the face elements starting at the last step. Make your eyebrows look like the roof of the house. A large nose and rounded chin are some other features.

Step 4

Now we’ll draw the outline of the long, erect ears of our dog. The ear shapes shown in our example are different. One ear is hanging out, the other is straight. However, you can change the order of the ears to suit your preferences.

Step 5

Let’s draw two straight, vertical lines connecting the head and torso. The line to our left begins at the ear and the line to the right is from the cheek. Both lines point towards the body.

Step 6

Scooby-Doo has one piece of clothing: a collar with a tag that shows the first letters of his nickname. Let’s draw this collar.

Step 7

The two lower circular shapes are connected by one straight line. The outlines of the powerful front legs should be added. This step can be done with curved lines.

Step 8

Draw two straight lines between the paws. The angle makes the paws appear very different.

Step 9

This step will show you how to draw the outline of your big fingers. Each foot has four toes that appear like semicircles. The distal legs should be larger than the proximal.

Step 10

Dogs have powerful hind legs. Let’s draw the paws of our character. It looks somewhat like the wings of a butterfly.

Step 11

Scooby Doo’s hind legs are very large. This step will show you how to draw the large toes on the hind legs. They point in different directions.

Step 12

This step adds a long, curving tail. Smooth lines are best but don’t forget the rounded tip. The tail taper slightly to the distal.

Step 13

To help us evaluate the entire sketch and identify inaccuracies and errors, we like to highlight one particular step. This is so we can move on to the next step, which will be coloring our drawing.

Step 14

To recreate the dog’s familiar appearance, we use traditional colors. Avoid using bright colors.
