Dear artists and lovers of myths and fantasy, This lesson will teach you how to draw a minotaur. It was originally a Crete beast, a man with the head of a bull, who lived in the Labyrinth and was killed by Theseus. Over time, minotaurs began to appear in other works, including fantasy books and computer games.
Step 1
We begin with a man made up of lines and circles, just like we did in the previous drawing lessons. This stage will make the head look more like an oval, but it will still be human-like. The rest of the steps are the same: draw the head and body using very light lines. The minotaur in the example is carrying a battle axe and walking in our direction. But you can take any pose.
Step 2
This adds volume to the figure. Sketch out the legs, hands, and torso using simple geometric shapes. First, draw lines of symmetry for the face (horizontal lines and vertical lines intersecting at the center of the face). Next, use a circle to sketch a muzzle.
Step 3
Let’s make some changes to the minotaur’s face. Draw the ears and large horns at the sides of your head. Draw the eyebrows and eyes using the horizontal line drawn on the face.
Step 4
Remove the guides from your face. The lines drawn on the face should be the horns, ears, and facial features. You can add wrinkles to your face. You can also add details like earrings.
Step 5
We draw the arms. All guides should be removed from the arms. Draw the lines of your arms and muscles. Draw the hands and fingers. In this step, draw the battle axe.
Step 6
Draw the large pectorals. Draw lines for the pecs. As in the example, furry lines should be drawn on the torso.
Step 7
Draw the lines for the legs. All computer games and literature depict minotaurs wearing loincloths. As an example, draw it. You should furry the contours of your legs.
Step 8
Draw the lines for the muscles. Draw the stripes of fabric along the shins. Similar furry contours were drawn in the lesson on how you draw a werewolf.
Step 9
Here we add shadows. The source of the light must first be determined. In our case, the light comes from the upper right. Add shadows to the other side. Draw the contours for the shadows using light lines. Next, paint the shadows using hatching. Draw the cast shadow.
