Today, “lipstick is made of dyes and pigments in a fragranced oil-wax base.” Beeswax, carnauba wax, or candelilla wax may be used. Lipstick is considered “an almost universal cosmetic since, together with the eyes, the mouth is a leading feature, and it can be attractively coloured and textured.”

Lipstick differs from lip balms or chapstick in that its main purpose is to provide long-lasting color, while the other products are intended to moisturize the lips. There can, however, be a crossover of these purposes – moisturizing lipsticks and tinted lip balms. Lip balms are usually packaged in smaller and less decorated tubes than lipsticks.

The fashion and makeup industries are some of the largest in the world! There are tons of products and accessories that people around the world use to make themselves look glamorous and stylish!

Lipstick is one of the most commonly used aspects of makeup, and it can come in many colors and intensities to suit each individual wearer.

Using makeup can be a lot of fun, and learning how to draw lipstick can be a great way to have some fashion fun without spending a fortune on real makeup.

How to draw lipstick step by step

  • Begin by drawing the lower part of the base of the lipstick. Make it’s bottom rounded, give it straight sides and make the top flat.
  • On top of the lower part of the base add the narrow middle section. This is the part that the cap snaps onto. You can draw it as small narrow rectangle with very lightly rounded corners on it’s upper end.
  • Finally add the top portion of the base that the lipstick slides out of. Draw it’s sides with straight lines and give it a very slightly rounded top.
  • Coming out of the tube draw the lipstick itself. You can first once again draw it’s sides with straight lines but this time they should eventually start to curve as they go up and create a pointy tip. Afterwards you can outline the little flat section that actually brushes up against the lips when applying the lipstick (as shown in the example).
  • When you have everything outlined you can trace over your drawing with a black pen, marker or darker pencil lines. Just make sure that you are happy with the way things look before doing so.
  • To color the lipstick you can use any medium you like (paints, markers, colored pencils, etc. In this case the lipstick itself will be red but the little flat part near it’s top will be slightly lighter (a little closer to pink) to show that it’s reflecting some light. The the upper and mid sections of the base will be grey. The bottom of the base will be a very dark grey (you can also just color this part black).

Lips allow us to chew and swallow with our mouth closed; to hold onto things like nails and clothes pegs, and to suckle at the breast. But even more importantly, our lips are used in communication. They allow us to smile, to bare our teeth and to kiss.

Start with 2 tablespoons of Vaseline and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Coconut oil works super well to make this glossy rather than like a balm. If you prefer less gloss, simply omit the coconut oil and go with 3 straight tablespoons of petroleum jelly.
