This guide will show you step-by-step how to draw eyes. The eyes are often more expressive than any other detail in a drawing, as you will see. It is therefore essential for artists to understand the anatomy and draw eyes. Repetition is the best way to learn any skill. You can develop incredible skills by exercising regularly.
Let’s now take a look at how to draw your eyes step by step.
Locate your drawing on a piece of paper. Place your drawing on the middle of the paper if you are practicing drawing eyes or a portrait. Draw a line vertically that divides your sheet into equal halves. This will indicate the symmetry of your future drawing. Draw a horizontal line slightly below the center of your vertical line.
Draw the outline of both the upper and lower eyelids. To make your drawing more realistic, you can observe the natural curves and contours of the eyes. Do not draw straight lines. It looks more like two hills. They are at roughly the same distance from each other. However, the eyes shouldn’t be too close together.
Draw the bottom border around the eye. You can see that the bottom lines of the eye are closer to the horizontal guideline than the top ones. It looks like two smashed lemons. Draw the protruding areas at the medial corners of each eye. Light lines are best, so don’t press too hard. Avoid straight lines that are perfectly symmetrical, as in the previous step.
We will now continue our guide on drawing eyes step by step. Begin to create the inner parts of your eyes. You can see the parallel lines between the bottom eyeliner from the previous step if you look at them. These lines should be drawn. This is repeated with the upper edges of the eyes. Pay close attention to where they are relative to the top lines of the previous step.
Draw the pupils. The placement of the pupils influences the direction and character of the gaze. This is often the most crucial aspect of communicating emotions or moods. The horizontal guidelines in the first step align the bottom edge and the bottom edges of the small circle.
You’ve done an amazing job. We are glad you’re not getting too tired. The outlines of your eyelids can be drawn as a series of long, flowing lines around your eyes. The skin folds are important. These are two lines that run near the medial corners.
This guide will show you step-by-step how to draw your eyes. Verify that the details you have drawn are correct. Then, erase the guidelines and draw sharper lines for each detail. Pay attention to where the pupils are placed.
Add shadows. To fill the pupils, use a single layer hatching. Make sure to highlight each pupil with a large, white highlight. Light cross-hatching is used to mark shadows on the skin. You can also paint small shadows on your eyelids.
You should be able to draw a realistic drawing if you follow the steps. If you find any mistakes, you can fix them by going back to the beginning.
Drawing realistic and alive eyes is not an easy task. However, if you regularly practice and draw eyes in different shapes and from different angles, you will very soon become a real master. Don’t forget to write us about how much our tutorial helped. We are looking forward to your feedback.
