This drawing guide will show you how to draw Bowser. He is one of the most well-known villains in the history of old-school video gaming. We love video games so we are happy to share this tutorial about the legendary character.
How to draw a bowser
Step 1: Sketch the Outlines for the Head and Torso
First, draw an oval-shaped egg-shaped shape that will be the torso. You should also draw a small, round head that is slight to the side. Bowser is a turtle that stands on its hind feet.
Step 2: Sketch the Upper Parts Of The Mouth
Bowser’s design changed. It was initially dominated by features of a turtle. Later versions made it more dragon-like, with a turtle shell. Place the nose and upper lip in a round shape on the head.
Step 3: Draw the Bowser Mandible
Consider the similarities between the lizard and the mouth. Draw the lower jaw below the muzzle. This is a large, rounded shape. To open the villain’s mouth, place your jaw down.
Step 4: Draw Bowser’s Eyebrows & Eyes
With broad strokes, mark the thick eyebrows at top of the head. At the corners of the eyebrows, draw pointed ridges.
Our eyes are small and we can only see one of them. This is a small, but crucial part of the face.
Step 5: Draw Bowser’s Horns and Teeth
Bowser should have the characteristics of a dragon. Place the sharp teeth everywhere in the mouth. The large canines should be rounded off. Count Bowser’s teeth – there should six at the top, and six at the bottom. Another attribute of the dragon is the Horns. They draw where the ears should go.
Step 6 – Draw Bowser’s Shoulders
Bowser wore spiked bracelets across his arms and shoulders. Make a shoulder bracelet with the shape of a semicircle. Draw the outline of the thorns on it. Draw a line at top of the carapace. It should be just above the body’s outline and touch the horns.
Step 7 – Draw Bowser’s Forearms
Then, draw the forelimbs and add volumetric ones. Don’t forget another bracelet. At this stage, the entire hand is not visible and the bracelet appears to embrace the air. You can fit 4 thorns onto the bracelet. On the opposite side, mark the position of the villain’s right hand.
Step 8 – Draw Bowser’s hair
Bowser has a dorsal crest that looks like a dragon. Draw a sharp thorn, and place it inside the thin insert. Draw a mane that looks like a flame.
Step 9 – Sketch Bowser’s hands
Next, draw large paws. Draw large paws that have sharp claws and folds of skin. You can make the effect that the paws grab something. You can make the paws appear to be grasping something. The spiked bracelets are a must.
Step 10 – Draw Outlines for the Torso
Draw the outline of the plates located at the front of Bowser’s torso. Avoid sharp corners and use smooth contours.
Step 11 – Draw spikes on Bowser’s Carapace

Step 13 – Draw Bowser’s Feet
Bowser’s lower legs look very much like a dragon’s. Each powerful foot ends in three sharp claws, as you can see. Make small folds between your fingers. Do not forget to wear chunky, rounded heels.
Step 14 – Draw Bowser’s Tail
Bowser is able to strike enemies with fire breath and has a tail. Thick tail like a dinosaur. It has thorns that are quite sharp with an elongated cone. This powerful weapon can be drawn using just a few smooth lines.
Step 15 – Delete the Guidelines
Excellent! You can remove all lines that are not necessary with an eraser, but it won’t affect the main drawing. To create the appearance of a large creature, add volume to the limbs. Bowser is over two meters tall!
Step 16 – Color Bowser drawing
This tutorial’s color palette will be bright and vibrant. The bracelets can be made dark brown and the spikes, claws, and claws should be white. Green would be a good choice for the carapace as well as the top of your head. You can use any color you like, but we prefer the original source color.
