This tutorial will teach you how to draw a wizard. We chose the familiar Gandalf the Gray image for this tutorial.
Many of us have seen fantasy and played games in which magic is integrated with the real world. Drawing, though it is not magic, is a tool that allows us to make the images we create into reality.
You will be able to draw a realistic three-dimensional wizard after you have completed all of the steps in this lesson.
How to draw a wizard
Step 1: Sketch the Head, Chest, and Pelvis
Draw three ovals in free form. Each oval should be placed on top of the other. The head is in the upper oval, while the middle of the pelvis is in the lower. With a straight line, mark the position of the Axis.
Step 2: Sketch the Limbs Of The Wizard
Draw the limbs. The left leg is bent at its elbow. The right arm should be slightly lowered. The legs run parallel and begin at the pelvis.
Step 3: Sketch the Facial Guidelines & Torso
Mark the head using two crisscross lines. Use a circular shape to sketch the future wizard’s robe. It should be drawn over the chest.
Step 4 – Increase Volume in the Arms
First, add volume to the wizard’s forearms and upper arms. Simple circles can be used to draw the elbow and shoulder joints. This stage is where you can draw simple geometric shapes and not your palms.
Step 5: Draw the Wizard’s Robe
The lower half of the robe should be drawn. It should go down to the ground along the legs. Draw the bottom edge of your robe. Give the robe a wave-like shape to make it look more realistic.
Step 6 – Draw the Weapon of a Wizard
Place the magic stick in your left hand. Make it look like a long pole. It should be equal in length to the height of a wizard. Draw the outline of a blade and a guard in the right hand of the wizard.
Step 7: Draw the Wizard’s facial features
This is done by placing two small strokes in the middle of the head. The horizontal line drawn in the first stage should be used. Next, draw the nostril slightly below. The mouth should be drawn below the nose.
Step 8 – Draw the hair and beard of the wizard
Cover the shoulders with a triangular design and place it over the chest. To add layers and relief to the wizard’s hair, strokes can be used.
Step 9 – Draw the Hat of the Wizard
Begin with wide-brimmed headgear. Position the hat so that it is hidden below the top. Add an extended cone to the hat, and finish the design with the tip.
Step 10 – Draw your sleeves
Continue to make the robe. To create the outlines of your sleeves, draw lines along your arms. Make sure to get large sleeves and stretch them. Mark the folds of fabric using strokes.
Step 11 – Draw the Belt and Bag
It crosses your torso, creating a lot of folds in the robe. Attach the bag to the belt by placing it on the right side. Use strokes to mark folds in the robe by drawing a belt around your waist.
Step 12 – Detailing the Wizard’s Robe
The robe will look more volume and have more relief. Create the folds by using a row of vertical lines that start at the belt. To make the robe’s bottom more full, you can add lines to the sides.
Step 13 – Detailing the Staff of the Wizard
Return to the staff. You must clearly draw the silhouette of your staff to make it appear like one. The edges of your staff should be slightly rough. Draw each finger that grips the staff.
Step 14 – Detail the sword and left hand
Then, draw the fingers of the right hand the same way. Place the sword guard above the wizard’s clenched hand. The guard is where the blade starts. You must ensure that the blade is perfectly sharp.
Step 15 – Delete the Guidelines
Your wizard drawing is nearly complete. Use an eraser to erase all guidelines. You can then add any details to the bag, such as inscriptions or scrolls, using an eraser.
Step 16 – Color your Wizard Drawing
The color scheme for the wizard should be your first step. The wizard’s robe should be painted in dark gray. Lighten the gray color of your beard. The robe’s color will be used to fill the hat. Gray is used for the handle and guard of a sword, while the blade is light gray. Brown will be the staff, belt, bag, and strap.
