Drawing a portrait requires you to be able to draw every part of the face. We have put together this series of tutorials to help you draw any face, from any angle.
If you need to draw a full face portrait from the front, our tutorials will help. This instruction will show how to draw the nose from the 3/4 view if you are looking to create a portrait using the 3/4 view.
Step 1
To ensure that the drawn nose is proportional and correctly drawn, you must first create centerlines. Begin by drawing a long horizontal line to indicate the middle of your face. The line should be drawn from the middle of your face.
Step 2
Use very thin lines and the guidelines from the previous steps to sketch the outline of the nose. Draw the bridge, tip, and wing of your nose. When drawing these parts of your nose, remember that you are drawing an object of volumetric proportions.
Step 3
Draw the outline of your nose using sharper and darker lines. You can now draw the outline of your nose more clearly. Don’t forget to compare the parts of your nose drawing so that you don’t make mistakes in terms of proportions.
Step 4
You can give your nose drawing a more fluid look by sketching the edges using very thin lines. Then, erase any guidelines. Draw the lines for the tip, back, and wing of your nose. You can check the accuracy of your nose drawing by moving it away from yourself from time to time, or looking at it through a mirror.
Step 5
This is the time to make your nose drawing more vibrant and complete. You will need to draw shadows by using classic hatching. Begin with the darkest areas and then work your way up to the mid-tones. The lightest areas should be left untouched.
After you’ve sketched your nose following the above steps, it’s time for the final touches. Find any mistakes and fix them if possible. Find all of the small mistakes in the ratio between light and dark areas and correct them.
Remember that practice is the best friend and assistant for any artist. You can strengthen your skills by practicing the steps in this nose drawing tutorial.
