This tutorial will show you how to draw a dove. It is a common bird in America and western countries. The dove has been a symbol of love and peace since ancient times. This bird is often seen on posters for children and company logos. This bird is easy to draw. This tutorial is very simple. Let’s draw this beautiful bird!
How to Draw a Dove
Step 1: Draw the Outlines for the Head and Torso
Let’s now see how to draw a dove. Sketch out the outline of the dove’s body and head. The body is a large, horizontal oval. The head appears to be a small, flattened circle. These shapes are quite close together.
Step 2: Sketch the neck and tail of the Dove
To form the neck, connect the head and the torso. The neck should form a truncated cone shape. A long, flowing ponytail should be shaped with a curve similar to an hourglass. The tail width should be equal to the width of our dove’s body.
Step 3: Sketch the basic outline of the wings
You might be tempted to think that city pigeons are simple, button-shaped guys. Pigeons fly at speeds of up to ten times that of other flying animals on the planet. Sketch out the front part of the graceful, long wings. The wings’ frontal parts are extended in flight.
Step 4 – Draw diverging lines
Drawing every feather of a dove can be tedious and difficult. We decided to only outline the larger sections of the wings. Draw multiple straight lines that are not connected to the main vertical line. It is a little like the pattern on Spider-Man’s suit.
Step 5: Finish drawing the outer outline of the wings
We will continue our guide on drawing a dove. Use round beveled lines to draw the outline of the wings. The upper sections should be pointed while the lower should have smooth, rounded contours.
Step 6 – Draw the inner feathers of a Dove
Draw the same outlines for feathers but smaller. The feathers are laid in three rows, with the largest contours located at the distal end. These feathers are arranged in a different direction from the feathers from step 1.
Step 7: Draw the Facial Features for a Dove
Now we have a fantastic pigeon silhouette. Now draw the outline of the eye with a rounded shape and the outline of the beak. Divide the beak by drawing one oblique line. You should see the lower portion of your beak as much smaller
Step 8 – Draw your tail
To represent the tail of a pigeon, draw some long horizontal lines. These lines will converge in the proximal direction, as you can see.
Step 9 – Draw the legs
Are you familiar with the flight of a dove? These birds tend to tuck their legs to increase aerodynamics. The pigeon is just about to land so the legs are almost straightened. Draw the outline of the legs for our bird.
Step 10 – Draw Distal Parts for the Dove’s Legs
Draw the outline of the paws for our beautiful bird. It looks almost like a human’s hand, as you can see. As opposed to the other fingers, one large, rounded hand. Pointed claws are a common feature on all fingers.
Step 11 – Delete the Guidelines
All auxiliary guidelines should be removed from your dove drawing to make it look more beautiful and complete. To make your image more expressive, you can darken its lines. Before you begin any actions, ensure that your lines and proportions are right from the previous steps.
Step 12 – Color your Dove Drawing
Let’s now paint this beautiful dove. Either use the Easydrawingart.com color palette or create your own. For the feathers, we used light gray and dark grey, while the legs and beak were dark grays. The eye was made of brown. The highlight within the eye contour should not be overlooked.
It worked out. You can paint pigeons in any color you want. You can make a whole flock of them, and come up with an exterior and story. Let your imagination run wild! Leave comments and share your thoughts about our step-by-step drawing lessons. We will do our best to help you.
