“If all perception was cleansed, everything would seem infinite to man.” William Blake, an English poet
Creak! Does a creaky door give you chills? Do you think an open door brings back memories of rowhouses in your childhood TV series? Doors are used in literature to signify choices and the consequences that characters must face.
Doors, even though they are inanimate, have been a part of many films and cartoons. In the 2001 movie Monsters, Inc., doors like the one in this tutorial were used as portals into the human world, which was the foundation of the monsters’ economy. The film’s plot centers around Boo returning home by finding or restoring the right door.
Do you want to draw a door? You can do it with geometric shapes by following this step-by-step tutorial. You will only need a pencil, an eraser and a sheet paper. You have unlimited access to the world of art!
How To Draw A Door Step-By-Step
1st Step:
It may seem easy to draw a door, since a closed door is basically a rectangle with some details.
This guide will show you how to draw a door.
It will be a little more difficult, but it will all be worth it! This guide will require you to draw a lot straight lines. This guide will be nearly impossible to follow without a ruler.
You can begin the first step once you have your ruler. This guide will get more complicated as we move on, but this first step should not be difficult.
This is essentially a drawing of a rectangle that is vertical with no bottom. To get the perfect angles for your door, you can use a variety of drawing tools.
2nd Step:
This is where the door drawing can get more complicated! It won’t be difficult if you carefully follow the reference image.
With your ruler, draw a diagonal from the top corners to the door using your ruler. Next, draw a straight line from the top left corner.
A horizontal line can be drawn across the same upper left line. The top portion of the frame will remain blank as we will draw the door in that area later.
3rd Step:
This is the third part of , our guide to drawing doors. We will be drawing it. As the viewer, the door will open slightly inwards.
It will begin at the corners of the frame on the right-hand side, then angle upwards towards the top edge.
The bottom edge will curve downward. Both edges will then be connected by two straight vertical lines.
You can start the next part of your drawing once you have it drawn in the same way as our reference image.
4th Step:
Now that the hardest parts of your door design are done, we can move on to detail. Start by drawing a square on the upper interior.
The top and sides of the square will be parallel to the outline of the door. After you have drawn the square, add three rectangles to it.
These rectangles will be equal in length and width, and they will be long and thin. They will be parallel to the door outline, just like the square.
Although it may sound confusing, it is easy to follow the instructions and look at the reference image.
5th Step:
Without a handle, a door is useless. This step of will show you how to draw doors.
This should be the easiest step in the guide.
To give the door a handle, draw a small circle near the center. For more detail, add a line to the edge of this circle.
You are now ready to move on to the next step. You can also add your own personal touches to the drawing if you wish.
You can draw decorative elements on the door or even pictures that will hang on the wall next to it.
These are just some ideas, but there are many others. You can also have fun being creative! Perhaps you could make it look like an entrance to your home?
6th Step:
It is now time to add some color to your door. We used a variety of shades of yellow to create the door, and blue for the frame.
We finished the project with some brown paint for the interior.
These are just the colors we chose. But, they are not the only options!
This step is where you can have a lot of fun playing with the colors you love in order to make this image come to life. We are excited to see what colors and art media you choose.
