In this drawing tutorial, we’ll teach the steps to draw a child’s face. As you are aware faces of the baby have many different features from the faces of adults.
If you’re adept at making portraits of adult subjects you will not be able to draw the perfect image of a child without any training. We have therefore put together this tutorial to let artists at any stage master the art of drawing kids.
Step 1
We’ll begin our instruction on drawing the face of a baby. Find the position where the sketches will appear on the paper. If you’re sketching a portrait, draw an oval on the top of the paper. Do not try to draw a straight outline. Use light lines.
Step 2
Draw two intersecting guidelines. The vertical guideline signifies facial symmetry. The horizontal guideline marks the location where the eyes are. It is important to note that horizontal guidelines aren’t situated in the middle of an oval but rather in the upper third. Mark the positions of the nose, eyes, and lips using short strokes.
Step 3
Create the eyes. It appears to be two extended lemon-like forms. Concentrate on the strokes you made in prior steps. Try not to create them identical to make them more realistic. As you can observe, the eyes of the baby are close to each other. The horizontal guideline doesn’t split the eye into two parts that are symmetrical. The upper portion that is the eyes are bigger than the lower.
Step 4
Include some details to make the eyes of your child appear more vibrant. Draw two circles around the eye’s outlines. As you will see, these circles are different in dimensions. With smooth arched lines, draw the lower and upper eyelids. It is important to note that the lines are in line with the shape of the eyes. In case you’re looking to draw an old-fashioned cartoon character look at the lower lids.
Step 5
Therefore, we continue to work on drawing an infant’s face. Draw the outline of hair in the hairline. As you may know, children don’t have long hair or hairstyles that are unusual, so it appears as a hairline with just one line. Take note of the distance between the hair and to eyes. This is a major factor in the appearance of the facial structure in general. Concentrate on the facial auxiliary guidelines. Draw the eyebrows with two shapes that extend just above the eyes.
Step 6
Draw the baby’s nose. Make sure you focus on the top stroke across the line horizontally. This stroke is a sign of the location of the top of the nose. It appears like a tiny forest mushroom. The face features of children differ from the facial features of adults. Don’t be concerned when you see odd facial characteristics on your drawings.
Step 7
If you examine the drawing, you may think that it is complicated. We only draw two lines that are smooth and curly. It is longer and curving. Its bottom is shorter and appears like a tiny arcuate. Be aware of the distance between the cheeks and nose. Slight distortion in one of these distances can drastically alter the contour of the face as a whole.
Step 8
If you’ve ever observed babies have you observed the broad and round appearance of their cheeks? This shape is created by adipose tissues, which disappear as we age. Draw the unique shape of the cheeks curling the lower part of the face of the child. A slight curve of the head at the temples will help to enhance the appearance.
Step 9
We’ve done a fantastic job and are now on the road home. Draw rounded ears of the infant. The lower portions of the ear line up with the tips of the nose, while the upper portions of the ears are aligned in the direction of the eyebrows. Make sure you check out our anatomy of the ear tutorial on drawing the lines inside the ear properly.
Step 10
Eliminate any unneeded construction lines on the baby’s face. Draw the final contours of the facial and head characteristics. Check that the forms and lines are in order. After that, apply light shadows that are in the form of one layer of coloring. Eye pupils must be covered as much as possible.
Step 11
It’s the final stage and you’ve created a cute baby face. Congrats, it’s an amazing outcome! Verify to ensure that all lines and proportions are in order. Then, you can remove any additional lines. You can add some shadows to the nose and eyes. You can draw other children as well as teens.
